Reports

Secretary: Gay Campbell moved that the minutes be approved as amended. Ann Barbas seconded and the motion passed.

Treasurer: Linda Fogg presented the Treasurer’s report stating that we had a balance of $11,077.11. Our expenses totaled $348.00 and our total income was $170.77.

VP/Membership: The membership report was deferred to David Menard.

President: Becky Wietzke had no report.

Advisory Board: No report

Sno-Isle: Nancy Patton told us that effective January 1, 2015, the DVD loan period would change to seven days except for TV series, documentaries and children’s shows which would still be available to check out for three weeks.

Camano Island Library: David Menard showed us the mock up for the new membership forms. Everyone agreed that we should not wait to get them printed up since we need to have them ready for January. Discussion followed about the age for Senior designation.

Patricia Bloom moved that age 65 be designated as Senior. Ann Neupert seconded the motion and the vote was tied.

Patricia Bloom then moved that no age be indicated as Senior but that the designation be kept as it is now. Bill Thorn seconded the motion and it passed.

Oren Campbell requested permission to spend $100.00 to send out renewal notices.

Tamara Drake will help automate the renewal system and suggested that we try the automated system before sending out snail mail. All agreed that we should try the email system first.

David Menard notified us that the closing bids for the construction of the new library were scheduled for December 22, 2014. That means that the opening would likely be in late June and most children’s programs would have to be moved to August in case of rain.

Old Business

The Young Author/Illustrator workshop will be going to the schools in February. David requested $400.00 to support that program. Rose King moved that the funds be provided as requested and Liz Tarbet seconded. The motion passed.

New Business

Norma Mouton apprised the group of the work done by the Art Committed for the new library. She requested that the Friends earmark $5,000.00 out of the budget for permanent art for the new facility. Gay Campbell moved that the request be met with funds provided as need for the new library. After discussion the motion was amended such that the funds would only be released after another vote on a specific art piece/project. The amended motion was seconded by Patricia Bloom. The motion passed as amended.

Ann Barbas volunteered to serve on the Art Committee.

Norma Mouton was asked to send a sympathy card to our junior Board member whose family was recently involved in an automobile accident.

Tamara Drake informed the group that PayPal has a matching program for donations through December only and encouraged us to pass the word among our friends and neighbors.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:47p.m. at which time everyone proceeded to enjoy the goodies that were brought for the Christmas party.

Respectfully submitted,

Norma Mouton, Secretary
