Camano Island Library: David Menard advised us that Tamara Drake reported that we had 25 “likes” on Facebook and 48 views on our web site. He also stated that the Camano Chamber of Commerce offered their bulk mail rate for our snail mail. Tamara Drake would appreciate help with folding and stuffing any snail mail that needs to be sent. Please call her if you can help.
Norma Mouton as Art Committee Chair for the new library reported that according to the architect 5 or 6 pieces would be needed. Proposals for the first art piece to go on the north side of the building will be sent out by Wednesday. Norma will make the information available to the Stanwood Camano Art Guild at their meeting on Wednesday and Dan Koffman will advise members of the Camano Arts Association. Norma will also disseminate the information to both Skagit College and Everett Community College. Becky Bolte from Sno-Isle will notify the local press. Deadline for proposals is March 1. Rotating art will be considered at a later date.
Norma suggested that $5,000.00 be made available for the first art piece. No moneys would be paid without first putting it to a vote of the members.
Jackie DeFazio mentioned that the construction contract for the renovations of the new library has been agreed upon.
The question of scholarships offered by the Friends was brought up. How and when to offer such scholarships is to be discussed further at the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm.
