Meeting Minutes

June 26, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7 pm by President Becky Wietzke .

In attendance: Rose King, Pam Fredericksen, Norma Mouton, Liz Tarbet, Linda Fogg, Ann Barbas, David Menard, Bill Thorn, Nancy Patton, Karen Schmidt, Tamara Drake, Becky Wietzke .

Reports:

Secretary–Minutes of the May 22 meeting were approved as corrected.

Treasurer—Rose King reported checking balance: $7,548.70. Expenses: $50 Camano Island Chamber of Commerce Summer Fest; $36.93 Angie Davis, face painting supplies; $79.94 Angie Davis, second set face painting supplies;  $82.60 Mary Jennings, summer reading bike helmets and kettle; $150 Andy Locke (summer program); $300 Terry McManus (summer program); $300 Allan Hirsch (summer program); $150 Brian Raven (summer program);  $150 Lori Hoxie (summer program); $10 Rose King, renewal of nonprofit status, $15 Karen Schmidt, staff cards.

Income: book sale $266.01; memberships $25.00; interest $1.14.

Motions passed for these expenses: $61.08 Mary Jennings for summer program (circuit); $20 staff birthday gift; $270.90 books for summer reading.

Vice President: No report.

President:  No report.

Advisory Board: Interviews will be next week for new member.

Sno-Isle: No report.

Camano Island Library: David Menard spoke for the Building Committee. He noted the Open House for the tentative plans of new building, July 1, 4-7 p.m. The committee has looked at various floor plans and will present three to the public. Architects will be available for questions.

Also, Mary Jennings is planning to re-start a parent-child book club; there’s interest from local schools. The library will need additional books for the club.

Old Business

Summer picnic:  The library now has tables for the summer program that could be used. Liz and Tamara Drake have talked about a program (perhaps novel trilogy or pirates) to involve kids. Date: Aug. 28, 5 p.m. David will check if we might be able to use the courtyard area in the new building for kids. Secretary will send out a note to the Friends to save the date. David will request posters from Sno-Isle. Info can be sent to Crab Cracker.

CILF website: Tamara Drake discussed using the Friends website to keep community informed and tied in to the Facebook and Twitter outlets. Planning to have pages about the renovation, public can comment on the site. Options for names were discussed. Camano Island Library Friends.org was considered the most appropriate name. Motion passed to approve Tamara as webmaster/administrator.

New Business

Election of officers: Nominees were elected by unanimous vote: Becky Wietzke for president, Oren Campbell for VP, Linda Fogg for treasurer, Norma Mouton for secretary. President and treasurer will serve 2 year terms; VP and secretary for 1 year. Officers will take office at the Sept. meeting.

Program: Becky Wietzke shared about books that have been important to her through her reading life.

Meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m. Next meeting: Sept 25, 7 pm.
